This book is collection of articles on subject of International Scientific Conference “Semiotics of Crisis: Imperatives of Survival, Renovation and Development” (19-20 May, 2010), organized by Samara Institute “Higher School of Privatization and Enterprise” and Samara Society for Cultural Studies and under participation of other scientific and cultural institutions. This book covers the theoretical and practical frameworks of interdisciplinary research of semiotic manifestations of crisis phenomenon, the debates they have triggered, and the way that anti-crisis management has developed in changing culture at global era. Thirty-eight articles of this book are divided into four chapters:
- Semiotics of Crisis in Discourse of Interdisciplinary Knowledge
- Crisis and Anti-Crisis Management: Social-Economic Imperatives
- Crisis and social Adaptation in Polycultural World
- Crisis and Social Reforming in Discourse of Historical and Pedagogical Knowledge.
Each section features new essays by scholars and professional working in crisis studies and management of transformation. Drawing from a wide range of theoretical, methodological, and social positions, the contributors offer topical and enduring approaches to study of global transformations and crisis trials. “Semiotics of crisis” indicates in the first place an interest in modes of survival, transformation and communication of changing culture. The semiotic meanings and figurines of crisis are considered as key sociological themes and apply semiotic analysis to area such as economics, education, social practice and historical development.
This collection is dedicated to 2010 UN International Year for the Rapprochement of Cultures and UN Decade (2005-2014) of Education for Sustainable Development. It is hoped that this collection will unveil the effects crisis and its symbolic articulations have on changing culture as well as conditions in which these culture live.
